We love hearing all about the latest golf irons that are coming out and will soon be on the shelves and ready to have a go with. We’ve been speaking with Callaway for a while now, and we’re thrilled to finally be able to spill the beans on their new Paradym Smoke Ai irons!
We appreciate that there is a lot of jargon and strange words that crop up when you’re researching golf clubs, so today we want to simplify some of these terms and give you an understanding of how they help the performance of your golf iron.
Simply put: will the Callaway Paradym Smoke Ai iron help your game?
When we mention artificial intelligence, we’re not talking about the latest Hollywood Sci-Fi movie. Callaway has used all kinds of data to make the face on their new irons.
We’re talking about analysing the impact areas on hundreds of thousands of golf swings to understand where golfers need better launch and performance. All this research results in the incredible Smart Face on the Paradym Ai Smoke irons.
This Smart Face promotes huge distance while offering tight dispersion. In short, you’ll be hitting the ball further and with more accuracy thanks to this artificial intelligence.
The computer-designed face means there’s a consistent quality across the golf iron’s face, and no kinks or uneven segments across the surface.
Certain clubs in the Paradym Ai Smoke series, the High Launch and Max Fast golf irons, feature a cavity back. This section appears on the back of the club and redistributes weight to the perimeter to give the club a more stable performance throughout.
The cavity back also helps move the centre of gravity down in the club. Essentially, the lower the centre of gravity, the higher launch you’ll get on your strikes. You can’t go wrong with getting more height on your approach shots!
We can all appreciate that each section of a golf club has been designed to fit a certain purpose. So why are Callaway so proud of the sole on the Paradym Ai Smoke? Your ball makes contact with the face of the golf iron, so what’s so special about the sole?
Well, in order for the ball to best meet the face, the bottom of the club must glide through the turf as efficiently as possible. We’re not out on the course to dig holes, but to glide the club through the surface the ball is resting on.
This club is effective because Callaway has given it a pre-worn leading edge with variable bounce. The leading edge is as the name implies, the front-bottom part of the club that first impacts the ground. A pre-worn leading edge will help you resist digging the club, and help you make a clean connection with the ball.

Now that we’ve taken a look at how the tech in the clubs will help you gain the edge when you’re out on the golf course, we’d like to take a closer look at all the irons available in the range.
The standard Paradym Ai Smoke iron will give you tighter, more accurate shots, as well as more distance when hitting into the greens. It looks sleek and slender, and you’ll find it easy to visualize your perfect shot when you’re standing over the ball.
The Paradym Ai Smoke HL model is the club you’ll feel at home with if you’re wanting to get a bit more height in your iron shots. With a deep cavity back construction, the club has a very low center of gravity, helping you to pop the ball into the air with ease.
As the name implies, the Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast will help you swing the club faster. This is a real asset to players who have a slow sing speed and want to gain more distance on their iron strikes. A 40g weight in the shaft helps you swing the club through for a more powerful stroke.
We’d like to leave you by covering some of the other incredible Callaway irons you can get your hands on right now. With a progressive face design, the Apex Pro iron will give you pinpoint accuracy. The Apex MB iron will give the elite player the edge they’re looking for, and the Apex CB variation offers a more forgiving feel. If you’re looking for a more forgiving club, the Big Bertha iron is an excellent choice.
If you’re thinking of adding new golf irons to your bag ahead of the golfing season, we’d be more than happy to walk you through what we have in stock in the pro shop.
