What an exciting week in the golf industry this week!
As you may have read, I will be travelling down to Harrogate this week to see this year's Golf Trade Show. To coincide with this huge event, we find lots of manufacturers launching new product to show off to all retailers and professionals. Probably the most exciting will be the new and improved Titleist 816 hybrid range and the 716 AP1 and AP2 iron range.
On Monday morning I travelled through to Gleneagles Golf Academy to spend the morning discussing all things Titleist with the Scottish Fitting Expert and got to try the new products for myself. I have to say that these irons are absolutely outstanding and having been a PING player for the past 5/6 years I am already looking at getting my new clubs ordered ASAP. Probably more surprisingly was the results from the AP1 range in particular! For those in the know the AP1 range has traditionally been geared towards the "game improvement" category (I definitely need some of that!), but Titleist seem to be pushing this product for everyone. I for one gained 14 yards with the new AP1 compared to my own clubs which has never been heard of in the past... Let's see what Santa brings!
The official launch date is Friday, 23 October, but I am able to give full fittings at Linlithgow pro shop as I have received the complete fitting cart already. The new 816 hybrid range also comes with more adjustability and head options than ever before, making Titleist the one stop shop for any golfer. Thanks to all of you that came along last Friday night for my rules night at the club. In total we had 65/70 people attend and judging by the feedback at Saturday's Medal you all seemed to have a great night.
I think it's fair to say that Ian got most of us laughing and he certainly caught a few people out (myself included) with the correct answers for our queries, I am glad most of you understood the importance of knowing even the basic rules of golf to ensure we know what to do where and when!
