What a weekend of golf that was! We had controversy, tears, a new number one, the lot!
For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about you should have been watching the ladies Solheim Cup. Unfortunately for Suzanne Peterson, she will have to live with her decision not to give a "gimme" for the rest of her career and of course as usual the press will certainly not let her forget about it. Believe it or not while this was all going on in Germany last Sunday the same incident actually happened in the PGA Cup in America, the PGA Cup is the Club Professionals equivalent of the Ryder Cup where an American competitor didn't give a putt from three inches! Thankfully in this situation the American Captain stood in and forfeited the following hole as a sign of good sportsmanship, but just like the poor European Ladies Team, this American competitor and his team ended up coming up one short.
These talking points over the weekend have certainly got some people talking, do you know for sure what would happen if this situation happened to you on the course?
Well, I have just the answer for you… On Friday, 2 October I am of course running a rules evening at the club just for you! Did you see what I did there!? I am still hoping for a few more to sign up for our Rules Night with European Tour Referee Ian Taylor. We have 30 individuals confirmed and another 15/20 maybes. This event is open to all, even if you are not a member at LGC. Can I please ask you all once more to buy your tickets in the shop ASAP to allow Karen some time to prepare the buffet. If you would like to reserve a place please click here.
Tartan Tour Event
I have been back on the road this week, playing a Tartan Tour event at Mussleburgh GC. I had never been to the course before and due to a busy schedule was unfortunately not able to get a practice round in. Having said that, along I went with a head full of dreams, two scores of 73 and 71 (+2) over the two days had me finish with a respectable 27th place, if only I didn't have that snap hook in me, who knows what could have happened!
