Bennie and Whyte sneak professional's day victory!
Well, my first ever professional's day has come and gone and I would like to think it was a big success. Thank you to all 200 golfers who took part on the day, your support has been fantastic over my first five months and I hope you all enjoyed your day.
My day got started at around 4.15am with an early trip to a 24 hour Tesco in Coatbridge to buy ice (how else would I have kept your beers so cold!), once arriving in work Cammy, Phil, my dad and I loaded up the buggies with food, beer, a BBQ and burgers and headed up and down to the 7th tee, where myself and Cammy set up our stall for the rest of the day! I am happy to report that so far there have been zero reports of food poisoning from Saturday's BBQ and as one of our kind members pointed out on the day "Kenny has gone for the burnt food approach to avoid salmonella" well said!
There was prizes galore available on the day and for those who missed the prize giving and DJ in the evening the prize winners are as follows;
First place - Steven Bennie and Mark Whyte (59 BIH), second place - Alan Grant and Peter Blake (59), third place - Jim Callaghan and A. Macfarlane (60 BIH), fourth place - Jim Jamieson and Frank Blair (60) and in fifth place - John Ewart and Craig Hastie (61).
Nearest the pin on the 7th - Robert Fyfe. Nearest the pin on the 8th - Colin Inglis. Nearest the pin on the 10th - David Spalding. Nearest the pin on the 17th - Frank McAllan. Straightest drive on the 11th - Bob Watson.
Ladies only first place - Frances Wood and Jackie Golding. Ladies longest drive - Gill Scott (not Hiram Ford as he is not a Female!).
Thanks to all the helpers on the day, our glorious Captain Iain Harrison, Phil, Cammy Grant and his team for the set up and of course my dad. Thank you also to our title sponsors Arvill Plant and Tool Hire in Airdrie.
St Andrews Hospice Charity Golf day
On Firday, 21 August Linlithgow Golf Club is proud to be hosting a charity golf day for St Andrews Hospice supported by The Bank of Scotland. Currently we have over 100 players taking part in the day and we are now looking for some local support in the form of members/guests or local businesses, if you are interested please click here for more information. This is one of the few charity golf days that we host here at the club but one that is local and personally very close to my heart.
