What has happened? The tables have turned and we have experienced a real cold and wet spell over the last week or so. I thought May was the start of the summer. All pretty depressing!
The great news though is that it didn't stop most of you golfing over the bank holiday weekend. Well done to all 143 of you that still got out and played in Saturday's medal. A special mention must go to Alan Grant this week who returned the best score of the day (65) to win the overall May Medal.
Sunday saw some of the wettest weather I have experienced since returning from the desert, but more surprisingly than that we had the pleasure of welcoming three new Swedish guests to the club on Sunday. Over the last few months our new secretary Gary Shepherd has been working hard looking at new initiatives to try and encourage lots of new faces to the club. Through a partnering website (Golfhaffet), three (crazy) golfers braved the elements for over four hours on Sunday and played our wonderful course! These new partnerships along with our very successful membership drive are bringing lots of new faces to the club and a real buzz of activity over the opening few weeks of the season. Well done to Gary and his colleagues on the club committee!
What is that opening header all about I hear you say? Well, you may have read the news over the weekend that West Lothian had its own National Lottery winner last Saturday night with one family walking away with a cool £7.6 million. When I heard the news myself on Sunday afternoon, I must admit I was extremely excited to hear that a Mr Phillip Dunning was the lucky man. I called the pro shop to speak to "Our Phil" but like most things in his life he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about!
You may have seen Saturday's twitter video from Grant regarding my Beat The Pro shot on Saturday (mediocre to say the least). I am pleased to announce the winners (chosen by Karen in the kitchen) are; James S Grant, James McCallum, James Tucker, Andy Mclean and Colin Moyes with each player receiving £16.60 on your shop account. Congratulations on your great shot and enjoy your bargging rights!
Last Thursday's Lynx demo night was a huge success with almost of all our members receiving huge benefits in the form of more distance, better ball flights and improved confidence.
So much so that the Lynx fitting team are coming back this Tuesday afternoon between 2pm and 6pm.
I still have a couple of 30 minute fitting slots available for anyone interested in comparing your clubs to their new range.
If you'd like to take part, please click here to book your slot.
Sorry to post some negative news this week, but we have had some small vandalism on the practice green up at the range. Unfortunately someone has been taking divots from the main pitching green. Can I please ask you all to keep an eye out for anyone who may be causing damage to OUR course. Hopefully this should help to reduce any additional workload for our hardworking green staff.
