It looks like spring has sprung and the summer conditions are just around the corner. Anyone who has been coming along for a lesson willl have noticed that I have finally dropped down from four jumpers to three this week. I am not sure how long it will be before I join Phil in the shop with my pins out though..
As you are aware our green staff have had a very hard couple of weeks going through their scheduled maintenance week and the recovery associated. We all know how hard Grant and his team are working, but having watched from afar over the last 10 days or so, a special mention has to go out to all the boys for their hard work and dedication. The weather was kind at the end of the week which allowed all coring to get completed by Friday. Let's all pray now for the temperature to rise a few degrees over the next few weeks so we can see the much anticipated summer growth.
It is not often that I am in as early as Grant and his team, but I am proud to mention that I beat a few of his colleagues out to the 7th hole last Saturday morning as I went out to hit my Beat The Pro tee shot before Saturday's medal. Although we were all still yawning, the boys soon jumped into light after witnessing my sweetly struck 7 iron into the heart of the green at hole seven! I am sure I heard one of the boys saying "Our previous pro never hit it as good as that" but it was a little windy and my right ear is a bit dodgy.
Thank you to all the members who took part in my fun competition. It is great to see so many of you supporting this small fun event and of course well done to the winners this week. Thank you to Helen Hunter who this week was our independent adjudicator who selected the 5 lucky winners at random. This week's winners were;
Bob Grierson - I was "lucky enough" to witness Bob's sweetly struck utility wood into 7 on Saturday morning and I have to say that his ball never left the flag from the second it was struck. Even after it bounced 30 yards short, hit the back of the bunker, hit another three hills and then ran about half an inch closer than my afore mentioned BEAUTY!
