Welcome to our first newsletter of 2021!

We very much hope that you enjoyed the recent festive period as much as possible. The festivities are now over and like me I hope you are putting plans in place for 2021. Top of that list,  how are you going to play better golf this year?

As always I try to offer some light hearted reading while offering some news and updates from the club, this week is also my third birthday at Stirling Golf Club, I wish we could all celebrate...

Club news 

Latest Covid update

We are all well aware about the latest restrictions and what it means to us all individually. The one positive though, golf can CONTINUE at Stirling Golf Club! I hope by now you have all had a look at the latest announcements from the club committee and the new procedures that are in place (these were sent out by email on Wednesday 5th January) and are compulsory for all golfers. If anyone needs any further help trying to understand what's going on, please click here to get in touch with me.

Happy Birthday to me...

I can't believe that it's been three whole years since arriving at Stirling Golf Club, I say this all the time but I really do love my job and feel very fortunate to be your Club Professional. We have covered so much in the last three years both on and off the course. The club continues to move forward, invest in the course, the practice facilities, and in and around the clubhouse. I am really proud of being involved in these projects and watching the impact it has made so far. I miss the buzz around the club just like the rest of you, we will be back though, stronger and better than ever! 

The Pro Shop is no different, during these lockdowns I have been keeping myself busy, tidying up a list of small jobs that need upgrading, updated or a fresh lick of paint where required!

We are all going through difficult times right now so lets focus on what we can do positively going forward, the golf season isn't far away! 

 
 
Shop news

We are here to help!

Unfortunately the pro shop remains closed for the time being. The good news though, I am allowed to get back to some work and continue with a range of golf services. I have enjoyed some extra time off over the festivities, but I am back! From this Saturday I will be back at the club every day! Anyone looking for any help via Click and Collect I can help, golf lessons (outdoors only) are also OK, if you are keen so am I!

Now that I have had clarification from Scottish Golf and The PGA I returned to coaching on Wednesday (with my ski thermals on!). Check out SGC junior member Cameron Henderson we were both out early on Wednesday working hard, I have just about got some feelings back in my toes!

Golf on Tour

A look ahead at what's to come...

2020 was a year like no other, both in golf and in the world as a whole. However, with 2021 now upon us, let’s take a look at some of the events for us golf fans to get excited about this year…

Firstly, The Masters returns to its April date, just five months on from Dustin Johnson’s record-breaking win back in November. This is followed by three more Majors in the men's game and five in the women's, including the one that got away in 2020: The Open Championship!

To top it all off, we have both the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup in the same month - September. Let’s hope Team Europe are partying twice this September! Oh, and let's not forget about the Olympics!

Something to work towards

Come rain or shine, golfers never need an excuse to dust off the cobwebs and get onto the course. So, with lots of golf to (hopefully) look forward to in 2021, there's no better time to conjure up some golf-based resolutions for the year ahead.

Walking in a winter wonderland

Long walks are as much a part of the festive season as eating too much turkey and dozing on the sofa afterwards. Greg Norman once said ‘Happiness is a long walk with a putter’. Now, it would be a little odd to take your putter on a festive walk, but one thing you'll definitely need is a good jacket!
