Another Hectic Week

Another absolutely hectic week at the club, as you are all aware we have been extremely busy since returning to work (back in early may for me personally). The last 2 months have been without a doubt the most demanding in my time as a Club Professional.

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to you all once again for your understanding, patience and of course the support. we are finding a lot of difficulties throughout the industry, as always though my colleagues and I are always here to help you!

The number of restrictions both from a playing side and from a retail side are becoming more demanding every week, this has made communication and supplies very difficult, Thank you again to everyone who has been reading the various communications, following the guidelines (particularly the face coverings in-store) and observing the rules. One final Thank you MUST go to all our club volunteers on the committee and behind the scenes, your club really does need you all and I most certainly need the help!

It may sound like a rant, its not, I really do love my job, particularly here at Stirling GC!

Junior Coaching News

Kids At The Castle

We are planning on getting our Kids At The Castle up and running for the season (subject to any further restrictions from the government) and have planned a restart for week commencing Monday 10th August. This year's programme was on schedule to be our biggest and best yet!

I have invested into our NEW Golphin MYPATHWAYTOGOLF app with improved course material, more feedback from our coaches, new academy events and of course our amazing practice area here at Stirling Golf Club to enjoy!

Classes timings and sign-ups are now open, please have a look below;

Class 1 - Monday 10th August – Monday 14th September (4.30pm-5.30pm).

Class 2 - Monday 10th August – Monday 14th September (5.35pm-6.35pm).

Class 3 - Tuesday 11th August – Tuesday 15th September (4.30pm-5.30pm).

Class 4 - Tuesday 11th August - Tuesday 15th September (5.35pm-6.35pm).

Class 5 - Thursday 13th August - Thursday 17th September (4.30pm-5.30pm).

Class 6 - Thursday 13th August – Thursday 17th September (5.35pm-6.35pm).

Class 7 - Sunday 16th August - Sunday 20th September (12.55pm -1.55pm).

Class 8 - Sunday 16th August - Sunday 20th September (2.00pm-3.00pm).

Shop News

In The Shop

Supplying stock to the Pro Shop has never been more difficult than of late, I am delighted to tell though that our Pro Shop offerings will be improving very shortly.

The shop will get a bit of a tidy up towards the end of the month with new product drops from Glenmuir and Ted Baker as well as bringing Adidas apparel to the Pro Shop for the first time, I am sure we will have something to cheer up any old outfit!

Golf on Tour

A fantastic performance

A huge weekend for Scottish golfer Marc Warren who secured his 4th win on the Euorpean Tour on Sunday, made all the more memorable due to the fact he lost most of his playing rights last season. It was however the PGA Tour who got most talking (again) this week

Certain rounds make us mere mortals say “Wow!”.

Collin Morikawa had one of those rounds on Sunday. Justin Thomas really should have won the tournament - and when you sink a glorious putt from 50-plus feet for birdie in a playoff it’d be understandable to celebrate as you have - but, as I said, Morikawa had a “Wow!” round.

This was Morikawa's second PGA Tour victory. That might not sound too impressive as a standalone statement, but it's one more than the number of cuts he's missed so far in his youthful career. Just let that sink in for a minute.....I read an amazing stat online earlier this week, by the time Tiger had missed his second cut on the PGA Tour, he had won 43 times (including majors!), now let that sink in......

It goes to show how consistent the top players are. So, rather than trying to hit the ball further, maybe we should all be striving for more consistency in our game? Share your thoughts with us using the button below.

New shoes for less

After something new?

Lots of you are playing more regular golf now than you ever have done before. This is great and we're certainly not complaining!

However, with all that golf comes plenty of miles walking down the fairways (and sometimes rough). So, with £20 OFF selected shoes in the pro shop, now is the perfect time to upgrade your shoes to make sure you have all the comfort and support you need.

Being a single-figure golfer, there's a good chance that at least one club in your bag has been fitted to suit your swing. We're big advocates of custom fitting when it comes to purchasing new clubs and would encourage you to go through the process again if you're considering an upgrade to your set.

Changes over time

Whilst many of you have been custom fitted before, your specs are likely to alter over time as your swing changes.

Testing different clubs

This is the best bit about the fitting experience - trying out the latest products from multiple brand until you find the one you prefer.

It's the small tweaks that can make all the difference, something we'll do with you to ensure you walk away happy.

You ARE good enough

A recent survey highlighted that nearly a quarter of golfers who haven’t been custom fitted before believe that they are not good enough to go through the fitting process. We're incredibly passionate about finding the best clubs for your game - no matter your golfing ability or experience - and an enjoyable fitting experience is the most effective way to do this and help you improve as a golfer.

Consistency is key

It’s nice to be able to hit the ball further and more accurately, and a custom fitting will help with that, but the main thing is to be more consistent so that your bad shots are few and far between.

Testing different clubs

This is the most enjoyable part for any golfer - trying out the latest equipment from different brands. It's not just about what performs best, but also about what you prefer in both looks and feel.

Finding you the right club

Once we have a club that you particularly like, we'll look at the finer details with you so it's perfectly set-up for your game. We appreciate it's a big purchase, so we want to ensure you walk away happy.

Making life easier off the tee

The average golfer will use their driver between 10-13 times per round. That means between 50-75% of holes are relying on that one club for a good start. But how do you ensure you get that good start?

Finding the right driver

First things first, if you want to find the fairway with more regularity then you need to feel comfortable with your driver. This game is made so much easier when we're confident in playing the shot at hand.
