Hello Golfers,

Yes it's true we can all start to officially look forward to the start of the season now we are into March and the season officially starts in March! We have had such a miserable start to the year, with weekends in particular being a complete wash out! Tables are definitely starting to turn, the footfall around the club has started to improve, members are sneaking away from work to get a few holes in and we are even starting to see daylight before and after work. Definitely my most exciting time of the year as anticipation builds, all we need now is the theme music for the 2020 Masters and we know it's time to play golf!

Kids at the Castle

We have had a great response so far for our brand new Kids at the Castle programme in conjunction with Golphin and the MyPathway2Golf programme. Sign ups are most definitely open, 4 of our weekly classes are now completely full.

Please get in touch by clicking here for more information or to book a slot for your child, grandchild, niece or nephew! We are due to start term 1 for the season on March 30th!


Help!

To help with our Junior Development Programme this season we are on the lookout for some golf balls! If you have any old golf balls lying around in your garage could we please ask you to hand them into the pro shop? We need loads of balls to deliver not only junior programmes, but the various other pathway programmes that go on throughout the season. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help!

Ladies Fashion and Fizz

We are bringing a brand new event to the ladies calender this year in the form of Fashion and Fizz, now I don't want to create a stereotype but according to my wife it's only natural for ladies to enjoy fashion and prosecco, am I right!?

On Friday March 27th we welcome all Stirling Golf Club ladies, their friends, colleagues and even their husbands along to enjoy our first fashion show in the clubhouse lounge. We will be launching our latest ranges of ladies clothing, we have some beautiful models on hand and I am even treating everyone in attendance to a glass of bubbly.

All we ask is that you can either drop me a note to say if you and your friends are coming along or leave your names on the attendance list in the ladies locker room, I am sure the night will be a big success!

The art of putting

‘Drive for show, putt for dough’. No doubt you have heard this one a few times before but considering putting equates to between 30 to 50% of our shots on the course, it also has a large element of truth in it.

The whole puzzle

If you're considering buying new irons this year, have a think about how they are going to blend into the rest of your set. The idea is to have equal yardage gaps between each club in your bag so, if you are going to treat yourself, it might be worth replacing a long iron with a hybrid that is easier to hit.

The illustration here is a good example of where a hybrid comes in handy. When our driver brings danger into play and a long-iron leaves us too far to the green, a hybrid is the perfect option.
