Another week has flown by, as we approach the start of the golf season things have really started to get busy around the pro shop. Unfortunately the members have been struggling to get out and play over the last few weeks as we all know this winter has been brutal. I have people pop in every day and ask “you must be bored when the weather is this bad” but we are actually the complete opposite! Our busiest part of the season has definitely started early this year, golfers are starting to dust the bats off and get involved in lessons and new product releases from the top manufacturers mean that custom fittings through our indoor studio are particularly busy! The poor weather has resulted in practice/gaming and club gapping sessions being a huge hit with our members and visitors. Shop stock has also started to arrive, just this week alone we have received more wedges, putters, golf bags, accessories, demo product and this all takes time to be checked and merchandised (certainly not my strong point). This week I did however manage to get back out onto the golf course, you’ve watched me now for two years at Stirling and although I would love to play more, finding the time between a lot of work and a young family make it almost impossible. This winter I have however ventured to play in two Ayrshire Winter Alliance matches where professionals and amateurs compete together. On Tuesday I went down to Royal Troon Portland to take part in the latest event. Having not been on a course this year I wasn’t fancying my chances much, I did however play particularly well! The highlights being my play up the 15th green on which I had a 50ft eagle putt to get to 8-under-par, the downside being that I finished my round only 3-under-par, embarrassing I know! Fingers crossed though that time is a little easier to come by this season and I can get out to join the members more often for a game...
Enjoy this week's read. |
Studio latest I am delighted to tell you all that our latest studio upgrade is now fully complete and the latest Swing Catalyst software and cameras are fully operational! The last 10 days or so we have been testing all the new equipment and the integration with the current equipment we have for your golf lessons. I’ve told you all before I was a little nervous with everything going in but I am over the moon with how well it is all now working! The feedback from this week’s lessons has been unbelievable and exactly what I hoped for when purchasing such top quality equipment! Being able to share much better visual videos with high speed cameras and fantastic comparison software has hugely improved the whole coaching experience at Stirling Golf Club, the purpose of this software is to make sure that all our lessons have multiple ways to learn and integrate the messages we are trying to share with you all! If you are thinking about getting a few pointers before the season starts, now’s the time to get in touch, I am sure you won't be disappointed! Please click here to get booked in and see what all the fuss is about.

Dear Parents, Happy New Year from all the Professional team here at Stirling Golf Club. Its been a busy winter here at the club particularly with the development and renovation of the Practice Area and Academy Course. We now have a fantastic new facility to deliver our ‘Kids at the Castle’ Junior programme. The practice range has also been upgraded with astroturf tees and extension in length, significant drainage, two brand new bunker and short game areas (one astroturfed) and a bigger, better designed putting green. This is a huge development for the club and one that any child interested in golf should be very excited about! This fantastic new programme in conjunction with junior golf specialists Golphin is an interactive, fun and comprehensive coaching programme filled with superb content, videos, gaming and learning. It allows us as coaches to communicate and interact with children and parents individually and as a group, there is an exciting new app release which means everyone will be easily contactable and we can all share information faster and more efficiently. The ability to learn through the app will make practice even easier and the parents might learn a thing or 2 as well! We are hosting a junior information afternoon here at the club on Saturday 22nd February from 2-4pm. Joining us on the day will be PGA Professional Alan Tait. Alan is an ex European Tour player, with a comprehensive background in the industry. He will be delivering a short presentation of our new programme and get everyone up to speed with this exciting launch. In addition we will also share more information on the new facilities, show everyone around and explain how they will be used. At the end, we will open all of our junior class timings for term 1 and parents will be invited to register. Please come along and join us for some fun, we will have a few fun games running through the studio so make sure the kids bring their clubs! |

Already this year we've seen the release of new drivers and irons (nothing unusual in that), but now we have something else to show you and we're excited to say they'll be arriving with us soon! |
| Srixon Q-Star Tour golf balls
|
|
Many of you will be big fans of the AD333 ball from Srixon, which has been a mainstay in its range since 2003 - albeit, being improved upon every couple of years.
|
Well, sitting alongside it for 2020 is the Q-Star Tour, which delivers tour-level spin and distance but in a remarkably soft cover - whilst being at a brilliant price point too! |
