Happy New Year to you all! I am sure you are all as excited as I am that I am back again spamming your inbox for 2020. All joking aside, I really am grateful to be back in contact with you all, golf clubs can be a lonely place during the winter months! Today (8th January), I am celebrating 2 years here at Stirling GC. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 2 years, they have been absolutely manic though. Arriving at a new club and getting settled, pro shop refurb, introducing various coaching programmes, offering an improved retail service, indoor studio upgrades and now arguably the most exciting of them all, our brand new Practice Ground/ Academy Course! These last 2 years have been some of my most enjoyable in the last 19 years being a Golf Professional. I am extremely proud to be your Club Professional and look forward to many more years as exciting as the last 2!
Enjoy the read.

New year, new me! I am sure, like me, we are glad the festivities are over! We have all analysed the last year, what was good and what was bad more importantly what can we do better going forward. Reflection is a good thing and planning to improve and move forward is key. The pro shop is no different and this week we have already started with a number of changes. I have personally made some significant investments to improve our offerings here at the club. Most will come through our indoor studio, the most exciting being the introduction of Swing Catalyst software and equipment. This addition will work alongside all the other technology within our studio to improve the quality of lesson, feedback and progression for you our students! My passion is coaching and the improvement of my clients and friends. This investment will hopefully continue to improve all these offerings even further to ensure everyone at Stirling Golf Club will get better. Watch out over the next few weeks as I try to get you all up to speed with the many more benefits from Swing Catalyst and why we should continue to be your first port of call when trying to improve your game here at Stirling GC!

Members trip 2020 You should have, by now, received an invitation to take part in a members trip to the beautiful County Louth Golf Club in Ireland. During our recent participation in the PGA Pro/ Captain Grand Final in Tuscany, Andy Malcolm and myself made some very good contacts! We have managed to secure a fantastic, fun and competitive trip for our members to enjoy. Check your inbox from Garry Bowman (Club Secretary) and let me know if you are interested.

We've upgraded! This week I have also upgraded my Foresight Quad launch monitor with the new Know Your Numbers software. This new upgrade is focused on the importance of how far you hit the ball. Distance, gapping and measuring is massively overlooked by most club golfers, it amazes me during lessons how club golfers overlook or simply don't know how far they hit each club in their bag. More often than not, most also believe they hit the ball much further than they actually do! As the season is now fast approaching, I invite you all to come in and see this new software and utilise the amazing offerings we have. We have gapping sessions on offer from as little as £20 per hour. In addition, we will also give you a complimentary bag tag with all the distances recorded plus email you the results to keep on file. |
Knowing how far you hit each club is imperative to better golf in 2020! If you would like to book one of the club gapping sessions please click here to get in touch! |
The Great Stirling Castle Run and Cross Country Event - Saturday 11th January This Saturday we have some restrictions around the club as we host The Great Stirling Castle Run and Cross Country Event. This is the second year that we have been fortunate to host such a high profile event. The Clubhouse is fully operational and the golf course is also going to remain open this year. All members will need to present their member's card to gain access to the club/car park. The golf course will be open all day although holes 1 and 2 will be closed. If you require any further information please get in touch by calling the pro shop on 01786 464098 option 2.

Hands up if you’re still feeling stuffed from the excessive (but highly enjoyable) eating over the festive period... We’re not going to ask anything too strenuous of you this week as we ease our way into the new year so don’t worry! Instead, take a quick look at the image below and see if any of it looks familiar to you.

With a new season upon us and plenty of new products arriving in your local pro shop over the next few months (more on this in the coming weeks), now’s the perfect time to wave goodbye to the old tatty golf shoes, the worn-out gloves in a pile at the bottom of your bag, and the golf balls with more scuff marks than dimples! If you’re the type of golfer who keeps on top of their equipment then we salute you but if any of the above rings true, pop by the shop this weekend and give your stuff a winter MOT. We’re always here to help.
