Unfortunately another week of this cold snap, the bad news is that the course and clubhouse have been quiet, the good news is that the indoor golf studio seems to be a popular choice for some! Golf lessons, club fitting, gaming, practice, social golf or competitive competition, we can do it all from our indoor studio! Enjoy the read. |
Gents Prizegiving
I was very honoured to be invited along to the Gents Prizegiving on Friday night, the clubhouse was absolutely buzzing with most very excited to get their hands on some well-deserved silverware!
|
The night started with some words from Captain Andy Malcolm, a lovely dinner and then some words from guest speaker Willie Collum. The presentation of prizes was conducted by Jim McKercher which was great fun.
A special well done must be said to Club Champion David Oates who said a few special words and concluded a great night.
A very big thank you and well done to everyone who helped on the night and congratulations to those who won a prize this year! |

For those who didn't win something this year, have you considered why? perhaps there is a bad shot that keeps coming into play? Does your short game need some work? Is your putting always letting you down? For those interested in some winter training, I have put together some great packages that can look at your full game! Each package can be individually tailored and in both cases includes practice time utilising the studio (pictured below) and all its state of the art technology. If you are interested in talking to me about any of this year's offerings please click here to get in touch! |

Junior Sponsorship Opportunity 2020 will see a brand new launch of our successful Kids At The Castle programme, our increasingly popular Junior Development Programme here at Stirling Golf Club. Scott and I have been working away over the last two seasons getting the local juniors, schools and town involved. Next season I am playing a new launch, improved course work, engagement and events to complement the coaching programme already available. This pathway has already proved very successful with many of our smaller juniors progressing to the main course and club membership. I am on the look out for a potential sponsor who may be interested in supporting our programme. The ideas that I have are all to help the juniors, more classes, nice uniforms, additional events, and even the opportunity to get some less fortunate children involved in the game here at Stirling GC. If you are a local business or even someone who is really keen to help support this plan for 2020 and beyond please get in touch. Hopefully by now you should have noticed how are we are working trying to get junior golfers here to Stirling GC, our club is only going to benefit in the long term. If you are keen to support please click here and let me know, the kids will love what I have planned!

Kerch-ing!
A special mention this week to "Kerch" Stirling Golf Club's very own, Mr Jim McKercher. Jim is a stalwart here at the club doing a number of different roles. On Friday night he kept us all entertained at the Prizegiving dishing out a few snippets of entertainment from every single winner during the 2019 season. Throughout the year he is contacting local newspapers weekly with club news and he has, of course, organised our annual match with St Andrews for a number of years now.

Personally I have to thank Jim and his partner Carole who let me stay in their beautiful Guest House the last 2 weekends while I have attended some club functions at night. The Linden Guest House is a lovely spot in the town and perfect for anyone coming along for a visit, golfing trips etc. Jim had his moment with the mic on Friday dishing out a few laughs, however, I caught this little beauty of Jim last weekend that I promised I wouldn't share with anyone else... |

Is it still too early to talk about it? |
We might be five weeks away from the big day itself, but it won’t be long before radio stations start playing Jingle Bells and this year’s John Lewis ad captures the nation’s attention. When it comes to Christmas shopping, we have a fantastic selection of stocking fillers available in the pro shop and even more ready to be purchased on our Click and Collect website. |
From headcovers to sweaters and even the old traditional gift of socks, you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for through us. You might even spot something you want adding to your list of gifts this year! |
So, why not take some of the stress out of the chaotic high street shopping by doing yours with us? If you order by 2pm on Friday 20th December, we can guarantee it’ll be delivered to us in time for you to pick up before Christmas. |
