Welcome to this week’s newsletter. Things have been going a little slower this week at the club, Solheim is over, golf course maintenance week has begun and Scott has returned from his honeymoon to help me and Gary in the pro shop.
I may be the only one who is happier things have been a little slower to start this week after a hectic few weeks... |
Solheim Cup
What an amazing finish to last weekend’s Solheim Cup! I didn't get the chance to watch a lot of the coverage due to work and family commitments, I did, however, get to see the final 45 mins or so on Sunday night. What a finish!
We have been so lucky to have some amazing events on our doorstep over the last few years, it seemed like a lot of our members had a great time visiting Gleneagles.

On Wednesday I went along for a game at The PGA Centenary Course as a guest. Playing inside the ropes with all the stands and the amazing course conditions was amazing, my golf was pretty good as well! |
New Autumn/Winter Garments We may be slowing down a little now with golfers but this doesn't stop the continuous work that we do here at the pro shop. This week we have continued to receive some autumn/winter garments. The shop has been tidied up a little and the new items displayed. Over the next few weeks, we will receive all the winter warmers, mitts, snoods and beanie hats (sorry to be so doom and gloom) our new range of ladies and gents waterproofs and a number of different performance items to ensure you stay warm and dry this winter!
|
I have also been busy working away behind the scenes and have now completed my spring/summer purchases for 2020. Seems crazy I know but a lot of my purchases have to be done so far in advance, thank you as always for the support as this helps me forecast for the following year, improve sizing and options for all my customers, it’s tough being a small business but someone’s got to do it!
I have some really exciting NEW brands coming on board next year which will offer a completely new dimension to our offerings. As always I'm keen to hear your feedback!

New Product Launch This week I received a stunning delivery in the form of the new Limited Edition Scotty Cameron T22 Teryllium putters. For all the big Tiger Woods fans out there, you may remember Tiger bursting onto the scene with one very similar all those years ago. These putters are released in limited numbers and a selected few accounts around the UK.
Unfortunately, they are going straight back out the door again to two very fortunate customers! I am hopeful of getting my hands on a few more, please let me know if any of you are interested, these are some of the finest putters I have ever seen!

Shop Opening Hours
As we start to move into the quieter playing period we have reduced the shop opening hours from this week. The pro shop will now be open from 7.30-5pm 7 days a week.

Titleist Fitting Day
This Friday we have a Titleist Fitting Day at the club, to date, we have 9 people booked in for detailed fittings with myself and the Titleist Fitting team. This will be an extremely busy "shift" but I could probably squeeze one more person in.
If you are keen to come along and look at the latest range of products, please click here to get in touch directly. |

Get A Team Together
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be launching winter lesson packages and our indoor studio winter league. Due to demand, both will be offered on a limited basis, if you have been thinking about working on your game this winter you may wish to consider getting in touch, I am always happy to help and plan for the future.
If you are keen to get involved in this year’s indoor winter league now is the time to get your team together, last year was a great success! |
This might sound a little complicated but just give us a chance on this one... Urethane vs Ionomer? Both are materials used on the cover of golf balls but what is the difference between them and how does each affect your game? |
Callaway Chrome Soft - Urethane cover You'll usually find that balls at the premium end of the market, like the Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft X, have Urethane covers due to its noticeably softer feel and fantastic feedback, which is why they're the go-to choice for many Tour pros.
|
Callaway ERC Soft - Hybrid cover Admittedly, the ERC Soft has a unique cover that is combines the benefits of Urethane and Ionomer. What that means is that you can expect a very soft feel combined with exceptional distance, which tends to be a perk of Ionomer balls. |
