Junior Away Day
Last Friday I had the pleasure of joining our young junior Stirling members for a day of golf at the beautiful Bothwell Castle Golf Club. This was a free day out for the children and a great chance for us all to get together and have some fun, learn and get to know each other a little better. The kids and I had a great day, with the weather even playing its part. Thank you to the three parents who came along to help on the day and encourage the children. As you all know, we don't have many juniors actively playing at present, I am really confident this is all about to change over the next couple of years. The growth of our Junior Kids at The Castle programme is something myself and Scott are very proud of, the improved pathway to membership supported by the club will no doubt grow the section numbers of the years and produce strong laying members for years to come. When the smaller kids get a little bigger, I may stop playing with them through the fear of getting beaten on a regular basis. |
Titleist Staff Day
On Tuesday, I had the luxury of spending the morning at Gleneagles being entertained by the team from Titleist. As a Titleist Staff player, I was treated to a product launch day and custom fitting experience from some of the best in the game.
The fitting team from HQ came all the way up to look after us and talk through their newest driver line (the TS1 and TS4) and introduce the brand-new range of irons, utility irons and hybrids coming to the market in September. I managed to get myself some beautiful T100 irons and some utility clubs which suit my game. As you all know, I don't get much time to practice or even play anymore but I have certainly seen my enthusiasm shoot through the roof after a brilliant day out. Like you all know, I am desperate to get my hands on the new clubs and get whacking, watch this space.
|
The new range of products are due to hit the shelves come September, for all you Titleist enthusiasts, do not fear though, as a premium fitting facility, we will be the first in the area to receive the full fitting range including heads and shafts.
Like all Titleist product launches, I am sure these beauties will be another huge success.

1 gap, 2 gap, 3 gap, FORE! |
How confident are you hitting your long irons? The lack of forgiveness can lead to inconsistent strikes and less distance. This is when filling the gaps at the top end of your bag with utility irons or hybrids could be the smartest decision you ever make – but which is right for you? |
Titleist’s brand-new utility irons and hybrids are really special, and you’ll be able to get your hands on them through us in no time at all. Why do we like them so much? Well, they are seriously easy to hit and offer unbeatable performance, but there are some things you should know… |
U-500 and U-510 utility irons Quite simply, these offer more distance than a standard iron but less spin than a hybrid. Both come loaded with tungsten for incredible forgiveness, with the U-500 offering workability and precise distances whilst the U-510 boasts a high launch and increased carry from a larger head.
|
TS2 and TS3 hybrids It's time to stop thinking of these hybrids as rescue clubs and begin referring to them as scoring clubs. Both offer plenty of distance and an easy to hit nature, with the TS2 providing a higher launch from a wider head and the TS3 giving us more adjustability in an iron-like profile. |
|
So, which route should you go down? Hybrid or utility iron? Let’s give all four a go in a custom fitting session and find the one that offers you the best performance. |
