Welcome to this week’s newsletter. It seems we are smack bang in the middle of a lot of events here at the club, it’s great to see the place buzzing again after the early July holiday period and what can only be described as a mediocre summer so far, the temperature has definitely cranked up and long may it continue.
Enjoy this week’s read. |

After the success of last year’s event, I am encouraging as many of you as possible to come and get involved in what I am sure will be even bigger and better! If you love playing golf and having some fun with friends, then this is the day for you.
- Saturday, 24 August - Tee times 7.30am - 3.30pm - Open to everyone, we even invite you to bring friends from other clubs. - £15 per person (must be paid at the time of reserving tee time) - Entrance fee includes golf, food, drinks, brilliant prizes and evening entertainment
Just like last year, I will be providing some entertainment in the evening and I encourage you to bring your partners and friends along to enjoy a night at YOUR club. Last year was great fun, plenty of drinks, laughs and dancing, I am sure this year will be no different. The tee sheet is now up in the Pro Shop and operates on a first come first served basis, act fast to avoid disappointment.

Kids at The Castle
On Monday night, myself and Scott played host to our first ‘Kids at The Castle’ main course event. In total we had 26 juniors come along and take part in 9, 6, 5, 4- and 3-hole events. We had forward tees, scratch and Texas scramble formats and the night was a huge success. Most of the children were just getting onto the main course for the first time, It was great to see all the progression that has been made over the last 18 months now coming out and onto the main golf course. |
|
Thank you to all the parents, caddies and scorers who helped on the night and of course YOU our members for supporting myself and Scott with the progression of our Junior Development Programme. |

Rated: Garmin GPS watches |
How many times have you stood on a tee-box and wondered what yardage it is to a specific point down the fairway, such as a tree or bunker? Likewise, how helpful would it be to know how far you have between the back of the green and the pin? This is where a GPS device comes in, and here are our top three picks in 2019. |
| Garmin Approach S10
| All the key distance information you need without the frills in this simple and easy-to-use watch.
Our verdict – Superb budget option boasting incredible practicality and style
|
| Garmin Approach S40
| 1.2 inch colour touchscreen that allows you to easily move the pin for more accurate yardages.
Our verdict – Our top pick for a combination of on-course info and smartwatch functionality |
| Garmin Approach S60
| The very best GPS golf watch with a bird's-eye view of the entire hole and a large numbers setting.
Our verdict – A premium option that offers so much tech it is actually something of a bargain |
