It seems the weeks are flying by, unfortunately, no change in playing conditions and we add another couple of events from the last week to the casualties list. We have hit the crazy season with a number of club events going on weekly, with the excessive weather though it has been impossible for us to get most finished. I hate going on about the weather but fingers crossed things change soon. As always, it’s been a busy one for us in the Pro Shop, even the bad weather can't stop us! Enjoy this week’s read.

Coming soon...
Keep your eyes peeled for some more product launches coming soon to SGC Pro Shop as the impressive TS range from Titleist is also due to grow. I can't say too much at this time unfortunately but what I can tell you though, being a Titleist Ambassador I will be one of the first in the UK to receive the latest offerings and will be available for fittings way before the official product release. Keep both in mind if you are currently struggling with your driver.

WPGA Championship
A huge well done to Stirling GC Professional Heather Macrae who last week won the Woman's PGA Professional Golf Championship at Trentham Golf Club down in Stoke on Trent. Heather successfully completed the 36-hole event in two under par to win by two shots from English duo Suzanne Dickens and Ali Gray. With the win, Heather confirms her place in the first ladies PGA Cup team where the British PGA will compete against their American counterparts in Texas this October. This win has been at the front of Heather's focus for some time now as she was desperate to make the first PGA Cup match.

One for the future
Congratulations also to one of our youngest members Master Thomas Kelly who last week was competing at the US Kids European Championships. There were over 630 of the World’s best young golfers travelling from 50 different countries to compete in the East Coast event with golfers ages ranging from 5 to 18. Thomas was competing in the 8-year-old category at Longniddry which had 53 players competing in the three round, nine-hole event. He played with Scottish, English, Dutch, Indian, Spanish and Irish golfers over the three rounds which were a great experience and a lot of fun. On the second day, Thomas managed the lowest round of the week for his category, -5 which included three birdies and an eagle at the last. This helped him secure a tie for the lead going into the last day. He had a tough time on the greens in the early part of his final round but managed to birdie the last to get a very respectable third place. |

Time for a little reflection |
Who doesn’t love the month of June? Long evenings, blistering sunshine (might be a little optimistic here) and plenty of opportunities to hit the course. With much of the season left to go and more competitions on the horizon, it’s time to take note of how you’ve been playing so far this year. |
Scenario 1 Hopefully, you've been playing regularly to your handicap or, better still, shooting under it. If that’s the case then happy days, keep up the good work! But we all know there’s room for improvement. Perhaps you don’t use a particular club as often as you could simply out of a lack of confidence with it? Or maybe you’re struggling with a destructive shot that is impacting your scores?
|
Scenario 2 On the other hand, you might be struggling to put a good score together no matter what you try. Some of you may be recalling a lesson you had from several years back or searching the web for a quick-fix only to be suffering further? Whether you’re in need of lessons, new equipment or a confidence boost, make sure you utilise our professional advice and skill set by speaking to a member of the team in-store. |
