Welcome to this week's newsletter. It feels like the summer has officially kicked off for us here at sunny Stirling GC, the course is in tremendous condition and the place is buzzing with members, competitors, visitors and we even got a visit from the professionals this week. Enjoy this week’s read. |
PGA Sprint Series
This week we were very fortunate to host an official PGA Scottish region "Tartan Tour" Order of Merit, Sprint Series event. Back in January I made contact with the PGA about hosting an event to try and raise some exposure around our 150th Anniversary Year. The PGA agreed that this would be a great event for both parties and we worked together to get the event up and running. In total 72 professionals attended the event and I don't think it could have gone any better (except from my golf perhaps!). The sun was shining, the course was absolutely outstanding, the scoring was great and the feedback was absolutely amazing! You will have noticed by now that I try to keep things positive in my newsletters most weeks the feedback over the last week or so has been better than I have ever witnessed at any golf club. Our members are happy, our visiting parties continue to compliment and the professionals really blew us away with the positive feedback. For anyone who is on Social media and follows either myself or the club would have noticed a substantial number of tweets, updates and shares on Tuesday night, to compliment the marketing from the PGA will also go a long way. I am sure that the good name of Stirling Golf Club has been mentioned up and down the country this last week in a very positive way. Thank you to all the members who made way for the PGA on both Monday and Tuesday, in particular the ladies who pushed their morning medal times back a couple of hours. Well done also to all of my colleagues throughout the club who were involved in making this a great event! Click here to view the scores from the event. Well done to Scott for winning the Pro Shop Challenge!

Kids at The Castle Our Junior Development programme "Kids at The Castle" is absolutely flying, so much so we have increased the number of classes for term two of this season. Myself and Scott have been working away behind the scenes to create the ideal pathway for children to come along for tuition and enter the pathway to club membership here at Stirling Goal Club, this term we should be close to attracting 50 children for our next eight-week programme. |
We have already witnessed the junior numbers gradually creep up and when these kids get experienced enough our junior section will be buzzing again!
Kids at The Castle takes children from complete beginners right through to the main golf course, we introduce techniques, etiquette and the rules of the game. As the children progress, we "test" the skills with some fun challenges to track progress. Each child receives one hour of professional tuition each week along with workbooks, certificates and badges when they progress. The introduction of the "short course" on our practice ground has helped the children to learn more about the game and the course and is the perfect starting point for our children. I want to thank all the members for supporting this programme and for helping the children along, the children are aware of the support as are the families that bring these children along.

The hottest picks this summer |
Is it just us or has this year's clothing been the best we've had in-store for a few years now? Either way, there's no doubting that you'll be looking (and feeling) great on and off the course throughout the summer with some of these fantastic picks... |
| Doune polo | A traditional option that's been jazzed up with colour block sleeves and jacquard detail, the Doune polo is available in multiple colourways and will be the choice of many this summer.
|
| Haddington polo | We simply couldn’t leave the Haddington polo off our list. The main story is its front hexagonal print, which oozes a timeless yet modern style for wear both on and off the course.
|
| Dunblane pullover | The fashionable Dunblane mid-layer features a lightweight and super-soft combed cotton fabric, which is beautiful to the touch for the ultimate in layering comfort.
