That’s it now, we are fully off and running with the first week of medals now done and dusted. I had to remind myself how we actually operate medal days at the club after a long winter break, it seems ill need a few more before getting back into the swing of it. Enjoy this week’s read.

150th Year Challenge Match
I am delighted to inform you all of a brand-new event to kick start our big year of celebrations here at Stirling Golf Club. On Sunday, 21 April I will be hosting the first ever Professional v Gents Team Challenge Match.
I would like to thank Gents Team Captain Stewart Gillespie who has kindly rounded up his team of merry men in what will no doubt be great spectacle of golf. I invite all of you to come along and watch the event take place live with tee times from 10.30am in the morning. I am delighted to tell you that of course I will be paying alongside my right-hand man Mr Scott Borrowman. Fear not though, I have also brought some serious golfers to bolster my team of mighty warriors. I have managed to secure the services of current European Tour players, a number of recent European Tour players and a strong group of full time golfers competing on various tours such as The Challenge Tour, EuroPro Tour and the top two players from the current Scottish PGA "Tartan Tour". In all we are planning a 12 v 12 match in fourball betterball format and I would love to get some support from you all. I'm sure there will be some great golf on display throughout the day, so please come along and cheer everyone on.

Masters Mania
We have two exciting events running through the Pro Shop for the duration of The Masters build up and the event its self! The Masters is of course exciting in its own right, but this year things get a little more exciting right here at SGC First up we have the Pro Shop sweepstake. I have a limited number of squares left to select, each square is £5 to enter and prices are as follows;
1st place - PING G410 Driver plus FREE fitting 2nd place - 2-hour simulator play for four people 3rd place - 60-minute golf lesson for one person
We will do a draw on Wednesday for everyone entered with names/players displayed throughout the clubhouse.
|
|
Secondly, we have our very own ‘Nearest the Pin’ event running through our beautiful indoor swing studio and simulator, no need to book, simply roll up, enter and get cracking. It will be £2 per shot or three shots for £5. We will be paying out first and second, with winnings added to your Pro Shop accounts. As always, the clubhouse will be showing all coverage over the week, including the great pre-tournament events. Time to enjoy the Easter break and grab a few drinks at the club, why not invite your friends and make a real night of it?

So, if it's time you change your electric trolley battery, bring your old one in-store and enjoy £25 OFF a brand-new Lithium one. |

Competition scorecards and procedures
I know its early season and of course we have also introduced a number of new members but I have a little message to share with ALL members of Stirling Golf Club.
Match and Handicap would like to remind players that failure to enter their score to the computer will result in an 8-day ban, that includes all scores even for an N/R. As we also operate two day medals that are part of the same overall event, could we also remind players to write the date they are playing, their FULL name and handicap on their scorecards. Please note, all scores affect the calculated standard scratch, including a No Return (N/R), all scores before and after the N/R must be put in as this can affect everyone else within the competition.
Stirling Golf Club Match and Handicap team are members of the club just like you, I am also part of this team, we all give up our precious time off from work to close down competitions just like last weekend’s medal, inaccurate score returns result in a very time-consuming process. Can I please ask you all to take the time and enter all information correctly (including the sign in process through the Pro Shop). Thank you in advance for your help with this matter.

Boa constrict your footwear |
There's been two major trends in the golf footwear market in recent years: the first is the surge in spikeless shoes, and the other is Boa. So, what actually is the Boa Fit System and is it anything to do with snakes? |
| FootJoy UltraFIT Boa golf shoe
|
|
No, it's nothing to do with snakes. Phew. Rather, the Boa Fit System has revolutionized footwear for the better and we absolutely love it. Instead of using traditional laces, Boa utilises a steel wire (virtually unbreakable) that is effortlessly tightened via an easy-to-use dial strategically placed on the shoe (seen above). To loosen, simply pull out the dial and open up at the tongue. |
With FootJoy's UltraFIT Boa, which is available in-store now, you will be guaranteed a comfortable fit every time safe in the knowledge that your laces will not come undone or get tangled throughout your round. If you haven’t already experienced Boa, then we implore you to come down to the store and try on this fantastic option today - no obligation. |
