The season is finally here
This weekend is of course Opening Weekend at Stirling Golf Club, I know it’s been a long winter for most, but no need to look back anymore, we've been talking about all the planning and getting ready for the season and now it’s finally here.
I am joining an almost full field for the annual Opening Day 9-hole event this Saturday, this year I promise to be playing more on Saturday's as I look to engage with more members and of course get my own game into some sort of shape (not sure that is possible anymore). The day is obviously a mixed event and I encourage as many as possible to get along and join in with the fun. We have a couple of things going on throughout the day so please read carefully:
- 9:00am - Captains Drive In - Club Captain Andy Malcolm takes centre stage and gets our 150th year of celebrations off to a flyer (excuse the pun) with the opening shot.
- 9.15am - The 9-hole event gets underway, this is a two-tee start (1st and 15th) event so the course will be busy
Lunch is included for everyone competing on the day, we encourage as many as possible to stay behind and enjoy in the bar afterwards.
- 7:00/7.30pm - Opening Day Quiz, we still have spaces available, this year I unfortunately cannot make it, but again, like most social events at the club, the quiz is a great fun night. I would like to specifically invite all our new members who have recently joined to come along and get involved, a few drinks have always been a great way to meet lots of new friends.

Night Golf at Stirling GC
Our night golf event was huge success, thank you to the 49 players that took part, the weather on the day was bit dodgy, but come 5:00pm everything seemed to calm down just in time for the golf to get started. The Night Golf pros said they have never been to a more spectacular setting than under the castle in the lights and they would love to do another, I will look another date towards the end of the year if the demand for the event is there.
|
The winners on the night were the “Friday Under the Lights” team of Grahame Cairns, Stephen Hogg, Dougie Jammard Jnr and new member Dominic McNally, unfortunately I don't have any pics of the winning team, hopefully they are all just as good this weekend in the daylight.

Junior Golf growing at Stirling GC
This Sunday we welcome the Golphin Junior Flag Competition to Stirling GC, the event brings approximately 50 children from the local community to come and play our course. I have been working away with Golphin to try and showcase our club and our junior programme to those around this area.
As always, we ask you all to support these events as we look at ways of encouraging junior golfers into our pathway of golf at Stirling Golf Club, we all know they are the future of the game and our club, your support is most welcome. |
Help our juniors I am calling out to you all to help our junior section, this year I'm looking to purchase a number of coaching training aids to help us deliver our junior coaching in a much more fun environment, so it got me thinking. We all have some old, rusty golf equipment lying around in the house right!?
I’m calling out to anyone who has no use for said equipment to drop it in to the Pro Shop, I am planning on shipping it all off to some second hand golf traders and gathering the money to purchase more clubs, training aids and equipment.
If you can help in anyway, please drop ANYTHING you can off to the Pro Shop next time you are passing. In addition, I have secured some funding from Scottish Golf to compliment what we raise and together this will make a huge difference to the children attending any of our junior classes, thanks in advance.

New product arrives in-store
As reported over the last few weeks, the shop continues to get filled with new product every week, the feedback for the new men’s and ladies ranges has been fantastic.
This week we reached in excess of 20 boxes from Under Armour, which included lots of men’s clothes, accessories and shoes. For the ladies I’m pleased to say we got another few options of shoes to complement the increasing range of apparel, shoes and accessory offerings.
Give us a few days to get everything merchandised and displayed nicely for you, here's a sneaky peak in the meantime.

[* END *] With the return of more golf-friendly weather and the Masters just around the corner, the season is edging ever closer to getting underway. So, with that in mind, let us ask you a question: What are you doing differently to ensure 2019 is a better year on the course than 2018 was? |
We want you to challenge us Our team has years of experience in helping golfers improve their games, from custom fitting golfers into the best driver for their game to helping them escape the sand first-time, every time.
