This week we have some big Pro Shop news, we have a number of you receiving your weekly newsletter for the first time this week and I want to remind you of some big events going on around the club over the next couple of weeks.
As mentioned last week, we have introduced a number of new members to the club over the last five months (74 to be precise), Club Captain Andy Malcolm, Club Secretary Garry Bowman, myself and a number of committee members have been working hard behind the scenes to integrate all the new members into our club.
Last week about 30 or so new members came along for a welcome/information night where we showed everyone around the club, explained the tee sheet booking systems and generally answered any questions that our new club members had. The club has been buzzing over the last nine months or so and this large uptake of memberships just goes to show that we must be doing something right at Stirling Golf Club, It is not always about new members and infect it is more important to look after our long serving members and improve our offerings to you too.
This year we are looking at approximately a 99% membership retention rate, which is unheard of if you believe the Scottish media regarding dwindling membership numbers in Scotland. Well done to everyone at our club, this includes you! Please continue to enjoy your time at the club and focus on the positive goings on, it is you that spreads the good word and you who also makes it easy for everyone around you to enjoy their golf and their time at SGC. Keep up the good work.
Enjoy the rest of this week's read. |
Experience the new grip sensation Have you ever replaced the grips on your clubs before? If you have, then you'll remember how much better it felt to hold onto brand new grips over the ball than old, tacky ones. If you haven't, it could be harming your scores and ability to swing with confidence. Right now, we have a fantastic promotion running in-store where you can get your 7-iron regripped for FREE! All you need to decide is whether you want a Golf Pride ALIGN grip or a CP2 Wrap. Decisions, decisions. |

The boxes continue to arrive and the shop continues to stock up ahead of a busy year! On Monday we received a huge drop of FootJoy apparel (a lot of which crested with the new 150 year logo) which has now been merchandised and displayed beautifully in the Pro Shop.
The final hardware and demos have now arrived to complete our club fitting options for the 2019 season with the delivery of the latest Mizuno ST190 drivers and fairways.

BIGGA Conference On Tuesday I joined Course Manager James Lindsay, his deputy Scott McKnight, Club Captain Andy and Secretary Garry at the annual BIGGA (British and International Golf Greenkeeping Association) Conference at Perth Conference Hall. |
I'm sure a few of you are wondering why so many of us went along to a green keeping conference, this was in actual fact a brilliant opportunity to listen to some fantastic key note speakers throughout the day.
In total there were over 300 delegates sharing best practice, we managed to pick up a number of ideas that have worked wonders at other clubs, I may have mentioned above that the club is in a fantastic place at present, that doesn't mean that we can afford to stand still though.

Driver technology continues to be the hot topic of conversation in the golfing world, as brands search for ways of giving us more forgiveness, greater distance and better accuracy off the tee. So, which drivers are really pushing the boundaries this year? |
Introducing G410 Plus from PING The first thing you'll notice on the G410 Plus driver is its Moveable-Weight technology on the back perimeter of the club (seen above). This allows us to custom fit you into one of three positions - draw, neutral and fade - which will promote a left, neutral or right shot direction to cancel out your destructive miss. What does that mean? Well, quite simply, more fairways hit! Finding the right club for you can be a serious game-changer and sure-fire way of lowering your scores, and the best way of doing this is by taking advantage of our professional advice during an eye-opening custom fitting. |
