This week we look forward to the biggest weekend of the year with Finals Day coming to the club on Saturday, and we also reveal the winners from our pro shop sweepstake last weekend. |
Finals Day This Saturday is my first Finals Day at Stirling Golf Club, I am praying for good weather so that we can all get out onto the course and cheer all the finalists on. It’s a very competitive week of golf this week with all ladies, gents and juniors battling it out to get to their respective final. When the big day arrives I hope all of you can come and enjoy the golf and the after golf socialising in the clubhouse, these days are what make our club special, so be sure to support all the finalists. |
US Open Pro Shop Sweepstake Thanks again to the 100+ members and guests who took part in our Pro Shop US Open Sweepstake. As the drama was unfolding over the weekend at Shinnecock Hills it seemed that quite a few members were getting twitchy as their designated professionals were throwing shots away left, right and centre! Dustin Johnson looked like he had it wrapped up going into the weekend, then Tommy Fleetwood set the heather alight with a record equalling final day 63. it was however defending champion Brooks Koepka who held his nerve and managed to win again come Sunday night. The biggest prize was of course the Callaway Rogue driver I was giving away and the winners are as follows; - First place - Grant McBeath - Brooks Koepka - FREE driver fitting and Callaway Rogue driver.
- Second place - Scott Monteith - Tommy Fleetwood - Two hour simulator access for four people.
- Third place - Don Macleod - Dustin Johnson - 30 minute golf lesson.

Young Masters Golf Junior Programme We are coming to the end of our first block (eight weeks) of our successful Young Masters Golf Junior Programme. The feedback has been great and the kids have loved it! Next week is the last of the coaching classes and next Sunday we are also inviting all the young children along for their first experience of the main golf course in what we are calling our "Blue Tee Challenge". Most of the children have not made it onto the golf course before so we are asking you all to be patient and welcome them into the club and onto the course. Myself and Mark will be on hand and we also invite all the parents along to come and participate to what I am sure will be a great night. The blue tee event timings are as follows, Sunday, 1 July from 7:00pm. if you have any questions please click here. We will also be running a fun Junior Summer Camp throughout the school holidays this year. We still have some limited spaces available. The timings at present are as follows; Monday, 23 - Thursday, 26 July (11:00am - 1:00pm or Monday, 13 August - Thursday, 16 August (12:00pm - 2:00pm. If you would like to reserve a place for your child please send us a quick email by clicking here. |
Summer golf throws up different requirements and skill sets to that of winter golf, and you’ll often find yourself in positions or playing shots that you wouldn’t necessarily face at the other times of the year. The checklist below highlights the main performance differences you’ll notice between seasons, with an emphasis on distance in the winter and control in the summer. |
A great option all-year round These factors can make settling on one ball confusing, so here are our thoughts on why the Srixon AD333 could be your perfect option. Not only does its low compression core deliver faster ball speeds for medium and slower swingers for winter distance, but it also boasts a soft urethane SpinSkin coating that generates the high spin you need on firm summer greens. | |
