Titleist's brand new arrivals On Monday afternoon Kenny and I (Mark) had the opportunity to spend some time with the Titleist Reps going over the new Titleist iron and hybrid equipment ahead of the official launch early October. Starting with the irons, Titleist have created six different models that will cater and excite every golfer regardless of their ability. A popular question that we will hear in the pro shop regarding these new irons will be - "What is the difference between these irons compared to the last model?" The answer - Launch it high and land it soft with a lower CG and refined tungsten weighting for each individual iron. Hit longer shots that hold the green more often, putting you in better scoring positions.
- The AP1 is the ultimate game improvement iron with explosive ball speed and an even more forgiving face. All while maintaining a classically coveted look and feel.
- The AP2 is the gold standard for modern tour irons. If you demand ultimate playability with consistent distance and forgiveness, these are the irons for you. Both speed and MOI have been maximised to provide total control and distance anyone can appreciate.
- The AP3 is the players distance iron and is a new addition to the Titleist family. This iron gives the best of both worlds with its forgiveness and distance off the face, but a thinner looking design. I was very impressed with this iron due to the feel and forgiveness with off centre strikes. An excellent addition to fit in between AP1 and AP2.
- The TMB began as the ultimate utility iron and has now grown into a full set of uniquely-designed irons that deliver distance at every loft. If you like the way T-MB utility irons perform, you should feel what it’s like to play the full set. A unique design with amazing feel and results.
- The CB irons deliver traditional looks packed with modern technology. The 718 CB irons continue the legacy of delivering incredible tour-proven performance in a sleek, cavity back profile.
- The MB irons are for the purist, there is no substitute for a one-piece, muscle back iron. The 718 MB is the modern choice for those desiring a traditional forged look and feel. A classic muscle back designed for today’s game.
- 818 Hybrids H1 - High launch, easy distance, and tremendous forgiveness. For golfers with a sweeping delivery to the ball and prefer the look of a fairway metal.
- 818 Hybrids H2 - Player preferred launch, precise distance, and iron-like control. For golfers with a steeper delivery to the ball and prefer the look of an iron.
After testing all of the irons and hybrids my personal favourites are a combo set between the CB's and the MB's. Simply stunning irons with great workability and feel off the face. I will also add a H2 hybrid in at the top of my bag to help with tight tee shots and second shots into par fives (So easy to hit).
