Pro's Day
Thanks again to everyone who came along and took part in Pro's Day 2017. As most of you will have noticed the conditions last Saturday were extremely difficult with Mother Nature once again throwing gusts of over 40mph at us. This didn't stop almost 200 of you getting involved though! I had a couple of surprises up my sleeve for this year's event and in particular my two flags on the green "Powerplay Golf" went down extremely well. The winning teams in particular took full advantage of the Powerplay holes with four out of the top five teams recording nett hole-in-ones at one of the holes.
The course has been absolutely outstanding the last few weeks, David and his team were once again the toast of the club all weekend. On Saturday evening I had the opportunity to join a visitor in the bar who could not talk highly enough of the club, the event on Saturday, the organisation and new format, the outstanding bunkers and the tremendous greens. He thought we had a fantastic club and event and I had to mention this in this week's newsletter as I couldn't agree more with that feedback. If only we could have done something about the wind...
A special mention has to again go to Karen, Mark and Scott who braved the elements all day and made sure everyone was fed, watered and taken care of. Karen in particular did a great job on the BBQ at the 7th hole, Scott on the other hand though didn't fair so well, he was caught out with the wind at one point and nearly ended up in the canal alongside the gazebo (thanks to captain Jim McFadyen for the photo). The winners on the day are as follows:
First team - Ricky Yuill and Paul McVie (60).
Second team - Donald Harvey and Alex Bankier (61, best last three).
Third team - John Ewart and Gordon Cockburn (61, BIH).
Fourth team - Chris Fillip and Stan Scott (61).
Fifth team - Danny Buchanon and Bob Duncan (63).
Congratulations to the winners.
