Linlithgow Golfers Have Gone Putting Mad
The launch of our brand new Science and Motion (SAM) PuttLab couldn't have gone any better last weekend. A big thanks to Scotty Cameron putters who supported our event by dropping in every single putter in the range for all our members and guests to try.
Scotty Cameron Fitting Weekend
Our new SAM PuttLab has many different functions, apart from the obvious measurements and analysis it also helps with training modes and putter fitting functions. Last weekend we welcomed 20 golfers into the studio to first measure how successfully they used their own putter, then SAM would recommend whether or not they had the correct head style, loft, lie angle, grip size, length of shaft suited towards the individuals technique. The results were varied and many golfers were actually using a good putter, they just needed a little tweak to their putting style to ensure optimum roll from the putt. Others looked at newer better suited options and then we compared to see what actually complemented their technique best. Thanks to everyone who got involved for the free fitting weekend, I hope you got as much from the weekend as myself, Mark and Scott did.

Operation Jock
Over the next few weeks/months I will be using this newsletter to show you all some of the benefits from using the SAM PuttLab. I have to thank LGC member Jock Simpson for committing to this little project we are calling #OperationJock even though I may be exposing some of his weaknesses… Last week myself and Scott brought Jock in for initial screening on the SAM PuttLab to see what he was currently doing and identify his strengths and his weaknesses. The results were varied to say the least, but he felt something drastic had to happen as he described his putting as "absolutely rubbish". To improve consistency we have to establish the biggest weaknesses and work on trying to put them straight, lesson one we highlighted a poor aim (right of target) led to a very (VERY) inconsistent rotation of the clubface through the point of impact to square the putter face to target. Whether anyone has good or bad tendencies it is extremely important to be consistent. SAM cleverly scores these tendencies against PGA Tour averages and Jock's scoring at impact wasn't great. Next step was to make changes, we went straight to the putting green and offered a grip change and alignment/stroke exercise to try and consciously change his poor routines. Jock has committed to this practice and I have told him about #OperationJock in my newsletter, my goal is to show you all over the next few weeks/months the improvements so WATCH THIS SPACE!
