Hello golfers,
So today I write my newsletter from my couch, it is Tuesday morning and I have been stranded at home due to the snow overnight, staying in Airdrie we are a little more exposed than Linlithgow and the snow certainly didn't miss us through the night. The snow did follow some slightly better weather on Monday (40mph winds and freezing cold showers) when myself and Mark made another appearance in the PGA Fourball Series at Troon Portland. We faired a little better than our previous outing with a combined 6-under-par and fourth placed finish. Considering the terrible condition we both played OK. It's still early season and the weather is surely due to improve, just like our golf...
This Saturday is what's known at LGC as "Mental Saturday" it is of course when our online booking system becomes operational for Saturday, 1 April Opening Day Medal. As always it will be as crazy as ever to get tee times booked with all the anxious golfers preparing a big comeback for the season ahead. Be sure to be up nice and early and keep refreshing your computer screen. Don't say you weren't warned.

Wilson Staff Fitting Day
I know it's early, but I do try to be organised you know. We have our first fitting day booked early in the season this year, after the successful launch of the brand new Wilson D300 irons and woods and the fantastic FG Tour V6 irons catching the eye of many players, we will be hosting a Wilson Staff Fitting Day on Wednesday, 26 April. As always we have individual fitting slots available between 11:00am - 4:00pm and they can be booked by clicking here.
Members' Clean-up Day
In preparation for the Opening Day Medal on Saturday, 1 April, the club is running a clean-up session on Sunday, 26 April from 9:00am to 11:00am and we would love it if some of you would be willing to make yourselves available. This is primarily to help tidy up around the clubhouse and course and some of the activities are as follows:
Rake-up loose twigs around the course.
Wash tee markers.
Weed around the clubhouse.
Power-wash slabs around the clubhouse.
Tidy the garden area at the entrance cairn.
Collect loose litter around the course.
Power-wash course rubbish bins.
Tidy road verges and sweep down the approach drive.
Repairing the buggy garage doors (for any engineers among you).
Cleaning/repainting the professional shop fence.
Painting the professional shop shutters.
If you would like to volunteer then we ask that you let the Secretary know so that we can get organised for numbers in advance. If you have a particular task in mind then please mention it to Gary. As always you are eligible for a free roll and coffee after the event. Unfortunately we inadvertently selected Mother's Day for this exercise so many members who are willing to volunteer may not be able to come on Sunday. If you would like to volunteer for a project and are available any other time for a few hours before Opening Day then please let us know and David will be on hand to get you organised.
