Hello golfers,
So the sunshine has arrived again at LGC a week on from a day of snow showers last Thursday and then a weekend of downpours. The sunshine has inspired me to get my clubs out again and get some practice in for next Monday when myself and Mark are joining forces to take part in the PGA Scottish Region Fourball Series at Archerfield Links. I'm hoping a couple of 30 minute practice sessions and a potential game this Friday will be enough to get us over the line!
FlightScope Indoor Challenge
Thanks to everyone who got involved in our February Simulator Challenge in the new and improved indoor Swing Studio. We had a decent turn out of members and guests who took the challenge of trying to get the closest proximity to 150 yards. It's fair to say some of the attempts were varied to say the least, some others though were outstanding, thanks again to everyone who supported the event. The winners are as follows;
First place - Colin Woodward (made all the more special as it was witnessed by his lovely daughter Eva who also took part). Colin and a guest will be joining myself and Mark for a day out at British Open Qualifying venue Ladybank Golf Club, he has also won some nice new golf balls to play with that day.
Second place - Ken Thomson wins a FREE of charge one hour gapping session in our indoor studio, this will allow him to get all his distances confirmed before the start of the season and he will also receive a sleeve of recommended golf balls following his gapping session.
Third place - David Fraser who is the winner of a Linlithgow GC crested towel and a sleeve of golf balls.
Young Maters Golf
Our Junior Academy programme gets underway next Monday and we are really looking forward to welcoming 35 very enthusiastic children to block one of the 2017 programme. This time last year we didn't have any structured professional programme in place and the initial feedback has been brilliant. Over the last 10 months we have worked really hard within the local community and forged some great partnerships with the active schools coordinators in particular, to raise some exposure about the great offerings at Linlithgow Golf Club. I hope you will all make a huge effort with the future golfers of LGC and welcome them into our club. Myself and Mark will be doing the coaching for a total of 24 weeks throughout the year and we will also be hosting some more structured "blue tee" events for the children. We still have a handful of spaces available if you are keen to get the children involved, if you would like more information or book a place please click here, or call us on 01506 844356. Please act fast if you are looking for your child to attend from the start of the programme.
Linlithgow GC Mixed Sports Dinner
Linlithgow Golf Club Sports Dinner is always a great night and I am sure this year will be no different. The event itself is taking place on Saturday, 25 March and at only £25 for a two course meal and two excellent speakers I'm sure you will agree this is great value. We still have some available tickets available from either Gary Shepherd or directly with Jonny behind the bar. This year's event is a bit different though as we look at raising some additional funds to be used against some clubhouse renovations. As long standing members and visitors to our club, this will of course be a benefit to all of you.
Please note that this is a mixed event so wives, partners and girlfriends are very welcome. At the last Mixed Sports Dinner we had a number of couples attending and the ladies had a great night and thoroughly enjoyed the event.
Our speakers this year are:
- Gordon Smith ex-forward for Rangers, Man City and Brighton amongst others. Since playing, Gordon has held the Chief Executive position at the SFA, and frequently appears as a football pundit on our screens and radio. He is also a superb golfer, but that could be an 'alternative fact' about him. More details on the night…
- Frank McGarry is one of our favourite Bo'nessers and has spoken before at our club, bringing the house down that night. He has a whole new repertoire of stories for us that will no doubt have the same effect as last time.
If you would like to donate any prizes or request any table bookings, please click here with your details and I will be happy to place an initial reservation on your behalf.
