Hello golfers,
I thought I would start this week with some good news for you once... The forecast for the weekend ahead is looking great with Saturday temperatures even set to hit a whopping double digits. February for me has flown in already and the good weather and noticeably later nights have made me start thinking about the golf season again. With just over six weeks to go until the Opening Day Medal, can you afford to sit on your backside any longer?
We have had a very busy week in the pro shop this week as the copious amounts of boxes continue to arrive and we plan for the playing season ahead. Myself, Mark and Connor have put a lot of work into stocking the shop this year and have changed a few suppliers to focus on what seems to be right for you. For those of you that have been playing regularly, you will probably notice a substantial difference this weekend when popping in so please be sure to give us your feedback.
What's new?
Wilson D300 - The new D not only stands for distance, it defines it! The newly designed D300 driver combines Right Light Technology with Micro Vortex Generators (you may have seen something similar with PING models over the last few years) to reduce drag leading to increased clubhead speeds and greater distance. Be sure to try these out, you will definitely be impressed.
Under Armour and FootJoy with be our official apparel and club crested stockists this year, both companies continue to stamp their authority on the market share when it comes to apparel and I am proud to bring the big guns to the table for everyone visiting Linlithgow GC. The price point is still absolutely fantastic and with the opportunity to be dressed like yours truly, do you need another any other excuse? I actually spent Monday afternoon booking my clothing for autumn/ winter 2017, six weeks before the first competitive ball has even been struck for the season. Talk about wishing the days away!
Callaway is a completely brand new product that I am also stocking this year and with the hype surrounding the launch of the new Epic and Sub Zero Epic, I felt I couldn't let this one slip by. When Rory also puts it straight into the bag I think we all have to stand up and listen. This brings the four main brands to our Indoor Fitting Studio Titleist, PING, Callaway and Wilson, four great brands with multiple options for all levels of golfer. Please remember though if there is anything else that you would prefer to try, do not hesitate to ask and I can organise the necessary!

Have you ever thought about what you could give back to your favourite golf club? I am still looking for some generous members who would like to donate a small amount of time by helping out a few hours on our premier event days. The role involves a little admin work and a big smile this coming golf season and shouldn't be too stressful at all. We are looking to provide a better service to all competitors and visitors this season and three or four hours could do just the trick to make sure everyone enjoys their day at LGC.

ightScope Challenge
The FlightScope challenge has been buzzing this week with even a family feud taking place last Friday morning between father Colin Woodward and daughter Eva. Of course I couldn't give away the results due to our ongoing FlightScope Challenge, but I can tell you it was great see some of our youngest junior members getting involved. Have you got what it takes to hit some accurate shots over 150 yards, testing your distance and accuracy on our FlightScope monitor? The challenge will run every day for the rest of February (when the studio is free). The prizes are great considering a £2 entry fee, the only problem is that you have to put up with Mark and myself if you manage to win... you're not the first person to be thinking "I would prefer the second prize!"
How does this work?
- Simply turn up and pay a £2 entry.
- Have two practice shots.
- Take five competition shots.
- Record your score based on the distance and accuracy (150 yards).
- Enter as many times as you wish.
Prizes are as follows:
18 holes at Ladybank Golf Club and one dozen Titleist golf balls.
One 60 minute gapping session in our indoor swing studio and a six brand new Titleist golf balls.
A Linlithgow Golf Club towel and driver head cover.

Young Masters Golf is back at Linlithgow
After a very successful 2016 introducing Young Masters Golf (YMG) to Linlithgow Golf Club. I am delighted to announce our first block of classes for 2017 are not far away. With the number of kids getting involved improving all the time, and some successful Club Open Days over the winter, things are starting to look great for the future development of junior golf at our great club.
We are looking to get people talking and start raising the topic of YMG, so that we can get as many kids involved in this great teaching and learning programme. We have now confirmed the dates and timings for our first block in March below. As we have many children at various different levels of experience, please do not hesitate to call us if you are not quite sure what timings are available for your child. We are starting again week commencing Monday, 6 March at the following timings;
Monday, 6 March - 4.30pm - 5.30pm - Cadets.
Monday, 6 March - 5.00pm - 6.00pm - Cadets 2.
Wednesday, 8 March - 4.30pm - 5.30pm - Cadets 2.
Wednesday, 8 March - 5.00pm - 6.00pm - Bronze.
Saturday, 11 March - 1.00pm - 2.00pm - Cadets.
