Silloth weekend just around the corner at Linlithgow GC!

This weekend sees one of the biggest events of the year come to our club on Friday and Saturday. A lot of you out there use this week in particular, as an opportunity to get your friends and family members over to the club to see what we are all about. The green staff have been working extremely hard on the run up to the event and fingers crossed the big man upstairs is kind to us. Everything seems to be coming together just in time for the big event! The event is a pairs, one member and one guest competition, and open to all male and female members. We have over £2,000 worth of prizes to give away as well as plenty of food and drink for everyone. Places are running out so make sure you act fast to grab one of the last slots!

 

Wilson Fitting Day

We have another fantastic fitting day just around the corner and this time we have an unbeatable offer for you all. The Wilson team are coming along with their whole range for you all to try. I have to admit, that as a brand, they have been my supplier of the year so far. The performance of the product is as competitive as anything out there, the price point is substantially cheaper than most of the big names and their customer service is absolutely second to none. Junior Summer Camps

Over the last two weeks you may have noticed Mark has been successfully running a summer junior camp introducing golf to the kids of Linlithgow. It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome so many new faces to the club and we must congratulate each and every one of the kids for their enthusiasm and effort. A special thanks should also go to all of the helpers that gave their time to deal with the large numbers of kids who signed up. Well done to Doug McEwan, Ken Dagger, James Chapman and Eddie Boyle for helping out, it was much appreciated.

Having worked through all basic aspects of the game at the summer camp, we were building towards our Blue Tee Event which was held on Sunday, 24 July at 5pm for all kids who wanted to come along and compete in this fun four hole team competition for the first time. For a very wet and windy night we had 10 enthusiastic kids turn up with ages varying from 6 to 13. The kids were evenly split into teams and took it in turns using the one ball to hit alternate shots. This format got them working as a team and communicating between themselves to help each other out. After four holes and some excellent shots under the nerve racking conditions it was a very successful event with only one stroke separating the three teams. They were all winners on the night and received some new golf balls as a prize. Thanks again to all the parents for coming along, without your help we can't get these events running.

You should have noticed the considerable effort being made to promote our club as the perfect starting point for any young golfer and the structured Young Masters Programme that myself and Mark have been working hard with this year. Our structured eight week YMG program covers all aspects of coaching, etiquette and the rules of the game to ensure that all children are ready to move to the golf course as quickly as possible.

The final eight week term of the YMG coaching is starting from next week and we have a few final spaces left, if your child is between the ages of 6-13 and looking to get started, this is the perfect time! Beat the Pro...

I have been bringing a few different fun events to the weekly gent's medals over the past 16 months and last week was probably our most successful, well certainly for one lucky winner! The format is simple and there could only be one winner scooping the full prize. Step forward Mr Chris Blakey, who successfully managed to hit his second shot at 11th closer to the hole than anyone else in the field that day. Chris hit a shot to approximately one foot which earned him a huge some of £111. Chris just so happened to be one of the last players on the day... who said last but not least.
