Opening Medal Day
What a day we had with over 190 golfers attending our annual Opening Day Medal last Saturday. I even got in on the act myself along with fellow professional Mark as we joined our Club Captain Iain Harrison for 18 holes to get the season going. Having never been too impressed with early starts, I must say things were a little fresh at 7.30am on Saturday morning. Despite a very scrappy game from us all, we did have a very enjoyable game and at one point I think we were on for the best day of the year so far weather wise. Needless to say the heavens opened around 4pm though and soaked all the late starters!
It was great to see so many of you return after the winter break. I must admit that most discussions in the clubhouse though were all about how scrappy each other's game were. Well, I the Professional at Linlithgow, unfortunately had the same excuse. We will however be back out next Saturday though to take you all on in the John Barratt Betterball!
Congratulations goes to our winner Colin Cifelli who had a tremendous 74 scratch on Saturday (nett 62) and our team manager, Ryan Leslie, who had the lowest gross score of the day with a superb 70.
The biggest applause goes to our green staff who managed to present the course in outstanding condition despite the torrential rain on Friday night, I would hate to think how fast the greens may have been if that was not the case. Well done to David and his team!
Linlithgow Open Day
Now, not to get confused with last week's Opening Medal. This week we have our Club Open Day! This is our annual attempt at attracting new members to our wonderful club. This year we are opening our doors this coming Sunday and already we have created quite a bit of interest. Is it to do with our forward thinking green staff who come up with bunker renovation programmes? Is it to do with our forward thinking council who have come up with visitor incentive programmes to attract new visitors or is it to do with our club professional being the best in all the land? The list goes on!Those participating on the day and joining our club before the end of April can enjoy the following benefits:
No joining fee
Reduced first year subscription of £495
A FREE golf lesson from myself
One FREE fourball voucher
Weekly Club Competitions run through the season
Any member introducing a new member will receive £50 credit on their membership account
Anyway, we are asking you, the existing members at LGC, to do your bit and invite along your friends. We have FREE rates for any visitors this coming Sunday, whether you are with a member or not.

From everyone here at Linlithgow pro shop, we look forward to welcoming you back for the 2016 golf season.
Promotions, promotions, promotions
April is all about giveaways and this month we have so many offers going on that even I am getting myself a little muddled up!
Motocaddy battery trade-in
The Lithium battery trade-in was, without doubt, my most successful promotion last year. The opportunity to trade-in any old worn out battery for a new lighter, small, lithium option seems a no brainer for most of you. With that in mind I have ordered loads of different battery options in anticipation for a busy few weeks. For those of you that are not in the know the main advantages are as follows:
This £25 OFF offer is also available on any new Motocaddy Lithium trolley for anyone interested in upgrading their trolley! Click here to learn more.
FootJoy shoe trade-in
I am sure by now you get the hint with the trade-in offers, we take the old, we give you the new and you save money. As that little meerkat says on the TV, SIMPLES! Even our Junior Convenor, Stephen Marshall, got the message when he popped in at the weekend to get his new shiny pair of shoes.
Buy one, get one HALF PRICE on Cleveland wedges
Some of you have noticed the improved look around the shop and the amount of improved club options that we have. One in particular has to be the new Cleveland wedges and wedge fitting cart. Over the last few weeks you've heard me going on about the new bunkers and the various loft and bounce options that YOU need to start thinking about when looking at pitching, chipping, bunker splash shots and the flop shot. Why not click here and get in touch and let me help you with your decision. We have various fitting options to help you out with and you can even take them out onto the course to play with.
