Hello golfers,
He's here, he's here!
No it's not the sun that I am talking about this week (although it's great to finally see the big yellow thing in the sky), I am actually talking about Mark our new Golf Professional who thankfully got started this week! For those who haven't been around this week, Mark has already been creating quite a stir. Mark stretches in at a whopping 6ft 8 inches tall..... Do not be worried though when entering the shop, as I have not employed a bouncer to sort you all out, he is actually a big gentle giant trying his best to help you with your golf. So please come along and say your hello's, best to get him on side quickly though as I wouldn't like to get on his bad side!
New ranges for 2016...
Huge announcements on the club fitting front, as I am excited to tell you that my second and third iron/wood fitting carts have now arrived ready for the 2016 season. I have now received all fitting heads for the brand new PING range including the brand spanking new G series iron, the high launching G Max iron and the sexy i series iron. All driver and woods heads will hopefully be here for the weekend along with arguably the most exciting product to hit the golf market this season, the new PING Crossover! More details on all of these ranges can be found by clicking here, but for those who would prefer to see for yourself, please pop in as we would love to educate you more on all of the benefits of the new ranges.
The third fitting cart this season will come from Wilson. Wilson have most probably the most comprehensive fitting cart available in Scotland with a variety of different head and shaft combinations for EVERY level of golfer, those who ventured out at the weekend may have seen the new wall display showcasing their brilliant products. My twitter picture of the new fitting wall display got over 4,000 hits last week which says enough for itself!
Both carts follow on from the HUGELY successful Titleist fitting cart. Titleist's new line of irons and woods continue to show great distance and dispersion gains. Just this week (Wednesday) I went along to the national Titleist fitting centre to learn a bit more about the products and get myself fitted for some new clubs! I have now visited three different fitting centres in as many weeks (Nike, Mizuno and Titleist). I use these opportunities to make sure that my product knowledge and service continues to be first class. I hope you can appreciate the service that myself and my staff provide and if you would like to come along and test some new equipment out, please click here to book your appointment.

All lessons include FlightScope ball flight radar (click here to learn more), Analyzr coaching and video software (click here to learn more) and video analysis feedback videos with voice over from myself when needed. Most of you will have seen me by now pacing up and down the practice ground (unless the weather is rubbish and I am hiding in the indoor swing studio) and hopefully appreciate that golf coaching is where my passion and experience comes from. I hope you can see value in all of these lesson offers and look at this as a great way to get introduced to golf or as an opportunity to get your game in shape for the upcoming season!
For those who are not happy… send all complaints to Mark! Did I tell you he's 6ft 8?
Linlithgow Golf Club Members Volunteer Day - Sunday, 13 March
Members, as you know, the team at the club (Greens, Pro Shop staff and Council) do a tremendous amount of work to make the club, course and clubhouse the place it is today. Not only the council, but a number of members also give up their time to help with administration and to do the odd jobs that combine to make the difference, particularly around the clubhouse and surrounds.
We are planning a pre-season volunteer day where lots of the small but important tidy up jobs will be targeted and we are asking members to give some of their time to help make the clubhouse area and course perfect for the start of the season. If you and hopefully a few of your friends are willing to come up for a few hours we can make a big difference together.
Plan of action - Arrive at the course 9.30am. Split into groups to work on specific tasks. Free roll, soup and a tea/coffee from 12pm in the lounge. The tasks in mind for the day are as follows:
Clear the bottles and rubbish from the around the tees and bushes
Tidy up the plant tubs around the clubhouse
Clear the weeds from the border alongside the first tee wall
Clean out the buggy shed
Rake up fallen twigs around the trees at 1st, 5th, 11th/14th and 12th/13th.
Clear out the weeds on the paving stones alongside the first tee
Finish painting the clubhouse west wall
Paint the gate at the 18th green
Tidy the shrub garden below the cairn
Paint railings outside pro shop
Paint railing at bridge on 18th path
Paint banister leading to 1st tee
Clean yardage signs on tees
Power wash course bins
Paint white hoops used to direct golf course traffic
If you and your friends would like to help, please put your name on the volunteer list in the entrance lobby or email the secretary so that we are aware of the numbers and can plan and organise the work parties to maximum effect ahead of the day. If you would like to help but are not available on volunteer day then please email the secretary and we will attempt to allocate some work for you at a time that suits.
